So I checked my message that was left last night by Walgreens and it was actually the same manager that told me I couldn't use my bogo with the bogo sale. I guess the SM was out. So his message was something like this: "Hi, this is XX calling from Walgreens regarding the customer complaint. I have sent an email to the District Supervisor about the coupon issue, but as far as I know, you can't use a bogo coupon with a bogo sale...blah blah blah"
So then, immediately after that msg was a message from this morning. It was the same mgr calling me. Here's that message: "Hi this is xx calling from Walgreens again. I received an email back from the District Supervisor and he told me to go ahead and take your coupons, so you can come in and get your Purex. Thanks!"
HA!!!! I love how he didn't apologize for the confusion or for his attitude, or anything like that. I also think it's hysterical that he didn't say, I was wrong, you were right, it's totally fine to use a bogo coupon with a bogo sale, etc. Just, I can go ahead and take your coupons. He was totally expecting the DS to tell him he was right and he had to eat his words.
I love it.
I'll be going in tonight to go get my Purex.

This exact situation happened to me at CVS last year. The store manager was so stubborn that even after the DM and corporate told him it was legit, when I went back to get my free Purex the next day he still told me that he didn't think it was right and that he would take the coupon this time but never again.
ReplyDeleteSo my Walgreens in Franklin wouldn't let me do it either. Should I call the company?
ReplyDeleteDaphne- I wish these people would spend less time being angry and jealous about deals they don't understand and more time learning how to use coupons. *sigh*
ReplyDeleteAnon- It can't hurt to call and just put in a complaint. You never know. Did you talk to the Store Manager? If you do call, I'd tell them it would be nice if you could leave a message for the District Supervisor rather than the store manager.
Did you get your purex? :)
ReplyDeleteAnon - I went to the Walgreens in Cool Springs (corner of Franklin Rd/Moores Ln) yesterday & got 4 bottles (2 coupons) in the same transaction no problem. Paid $1.11 for 4 bottles! It should've been less if TN would do something about this ridiculous sales tax, but that's another rant...! :)
ReplyDeleteYAY! I am so happy for you. I am planning on doing this deal this week. We bought the coupons after I read your plan, lol. I'm hoping it works for us, too. I will never understand why others get so nasty about us saving so much! Maybe we should carry our Mommy/Blog cards and hand them out, offer them a class and teach them lol.
ReplyDeleteThey are never wrong, don't you know? LOL!
ReplyDeletehehehe thanks all! I did go back and he was there although he was pretending not to notice me and I didn't go out of my way to say hi. lol.
ReplyDeleteI was sad though b/c I wanted to get the free and clear and when I originally went in, they had four but yesterday they only had two. :( I did get those two and four of the natural kind. The cashier rang my items, entered my q's, told me my total, and as I was getting my cash together, she was like, oh wait...and scrolled out the receipt, then said "I can't do that" I said, "oh yes you can mgr.xx approved it" So she said, ok, well if he said it was ok, then if anyone says anything he can get in trouble.
*sigh*
at least I got them!
the last two times i have gone to rite aid they have told me that i cannot use coupons on the free item of the b1g1 sale, and that is "coupon fraud" and that a man got fired last week for doing just that...blah blah blah. is this true? i have read the coupon policy and it does state that you can use a mq and a sq on each item as long as they dont total more than the item...so what do i say to the store when they acuse me of fraud or trying to steal? I hate shopping days like this...humph
ReplyDeleteMara- sorry about this. It is absolutely not coupon fraud. The store is offering a sale of the item and you are applying a manufacturer discount to the store sale. It is being a savvy shopper, not doing anything illegal. Many people don't understand this. Rite Aid is pretty good about helping couponers through customer service so I would give their CS a call and see if you can get the District Manager on the phone.
ReplyDeleteThis is one of those things that people just don't understand how it works. The manufacturer reimburses the store the full face value of the coupon, so they're not losing anything.
Good Luck! Let me know what they say.
Meanwhile...do you have another Rite Aid (maybe a little further from you?) that you can try?
I was able to do the Purex deal again in Franklin today on Royal Oaks. I told my SIL about it and she went in right after me and got some too! I was scared to check out after all the problems people have been having and I was at an unfamiliar store, but I was there, without my 5 yr old 9(!) for an hour, so I thought might as well try to get this errand done. Thank goodness it worked!
ReplyDeletethank you for your advice! i do have 3 close to me, and one that will still take my coupons and allow for overage on other items, thank goodness! rite aid is my all time fav store. but i love your blog...if i had a publix near by...it would most definitely be my favorite!
ReplyDeleteThat figures. It amazes me he didn't apologize or play nice at all. I would have died when she mentioned not being able to take them on this round. Kudos to you for scoring these!
ReplyDeleteWe got some Purex! That was AWESOME. Seriously! We bought 10 bottles for $2.70. I still have 7 coupons. Have I mentioned how much fun saving money is?
