A lot of people have been asking me lately about the coupon game. It's difficult to get to the level I am at without starting easy.
So, if you want to get started, here's your scenario for Walgreens, this week.
Transaction 1:
Buy
Arnicare $5.99
=$5.99
Use
$2/1 Arnicare coupon HERE
=$3.99 +tax
Earn $6rr
Transaction 2
Buy
Neuragen $14.99
Fill $1.01
=$16.00
Use
$10/1 Neuragen mq (Print this q, found in the Diabetes and You booklet HERE - company that makes Neuragen has been called and approved use of printed coupons from online magazine! - not the case for the other coupons in this magazine!)
$6 rr (from Transaction 1)
=$0 + tax
Earn $10 rr
That's it. Now you have $10 to use on something you need, or roll into another deal.
To get a little more advanced:
Transaction 3
Buy
Gillette Fusion $9.99
Arnicare $5.99
Fill $.39
=$16.38
Use
$4/1 coupon from P&G insert
$2/1 Arnicare printable
$10rr from Transaction 2
=$16
-$.38 +tax
Earn $6rr (Arnicare), $4rr (Gillette Fusion)
Then, if you want to go crazy, buy another Neuragen, using the Arnicare rr, saving the $4rr and earning another $10rr.
Walgreens basics:
A Register Reward (RR) is a coupon earned when you purchase specific items. These are manufacturer coupons and are subject to the "One manufacturer coupon per item" rule. Therefore, you must have a "filler" or an item for the rr to "attach to". Your number of manufacturer coupons cannot outnumber your number of items (Walgreens store coupons do not count).
When you earn a rr, if you buy another of the same item with the rr earned, it will not print another rr.
For example, if you buy Arnicare with the $6 rr earned from the previous Arnicare you bought, you will not get another rr back.
RR's cannot have a value more than items purchased. If you want to buy a $5.99 item with a $6rr, you need something else in the transaction to bring your total over $6. (Another use for fillers)
You WILL receive a rr when you purchase an item using a coupon. No matter what the cashier/SS/SM may tell you.
RR's will not print if the Catalina machine is offline, out of paper, or if they have not been programmed properly at corporate.

Walgreens deals, week of 1.2.11, Free Diapers, Vitamins, Detergent, Lipgloss/Lipstick ... Wags... is BACK!
Hello everyone!
I know I've been absent for a while, so hopefully I can pick it up a little. I got roped into using up all the 5/25's at Rite Aid before the end of the year, and things have slowed a little, so I'm able to take a breath!
Walgreens is having a super duper week this week! I went from $0 in rr's to $115 in rr's for practically nothing, $30 in tax probably.

Walgreens Thanksgiving Day
Allright. *Cracks Knuckles* Here we go. :D
This is a HUGE ad. I am not going to post all the deals and match-ups, as you can get those from many sites, but I will give you some ideas for transactions. I hope you all have at least one $5/1 rr from either the KidsEEze or the Sinex. If you do, here are some ideas for you.
I also wanted to point out that there is a new MIR for Olay/Venus/Secret/Covergirl/Herbal Essences/Pantene/Clairol that the Olay and Secret items will qualify for. Buy $50 and get $20 back. That's practically free money!

I suggest the toys that are all 50% off! :) I am also hoping to get DH the Paper Drums. lol. He has been begging for a drumset (yes, my husband. Not my son. ) so this is as close as he can get.

Walgreens Week of 10/31
Wow! Has it really been over two weeks since my last post?
Gosh, sorry! Things have been a little nuts.
So there are a few items at wags this week that might be worth a trip in. I need the cough syrup (too bad I don't have the q's), and the MM on the Sinex is always good ;)
So here's an idea, for those like me starting without any rr's, and without the Zarbee's q...

2 Sinex 2/$10 (ROLLING!)
1 filler $.34

earn $6 rr (Zarbees), $5 rr (Sinex... normally this wouldn't work, but it's reported to be rolling)
For those lucky enough to have multiple zarbees q's, rinse and repeat using the Sinex rr, saving the zarbees rr's. (lucky dogs!)
:D
There are also multiple P&G deals. I haven't figured out the BEST way to do one yet, but I'm still looking. I'll get back to you when I find a good one. I suspect it will be using those $5/Olay wyb Secret q's. Awesome q's.

Walgreens
I hit Wags early today b/c I didn't know how many Biotrue were in stock and I needed them to roll my $10rrs. They only had three, so I'm glad I went early!
Proglide was a problem. The deal on those ends today, but apparently, corporate pulled it early, so not only were they ringing up full price ($12.99 instead of $9.89) they also were not producing the rr. The cashier price modified them for me, and then the mgr did a "return" of $15 and I got that back on a gift card, to make up for the $rr's not printing. (I bought three razors, so should have gotten 3 $5rr's).
Here was my transaction
Bought
1 Gillette Proglide $9.89 (price modified)
1 Dial Nutriskin $3.99
1 Biotrue $4.99
2 Penway folders $.09/ea
Used
$4/1 Proglide
$4/1 Biotrue (found at WalMart)
$1/1 Dial ip
$10rr from Alive vitamins
=$.05 +tax
Earned
$3rr (dial), $4rr (Biotrue), shuold have gotten a $5rr for Proglide, but instead received $5 on a gift card
Then I did this at the second store:
Bought
1 Biotrue $4.99
1 folder $.09
Used
$4/1 Biotrue
$1rr from Crayons last week
=$.08+tax
Earned $4rr

A few walgreens notes
There aren't many deals at Waglreens this week but there's one moneymaker, if your store will allow it.
Visine $3.99 (regular price)
-$2/1 mq (found in allergy booklets at Rite Aid)
-$2/1 wagsq in-ad
-$2/1 Wagsq in monthly booklet
= -$2.01
If you don't have the $2/1, there's a $1/1 Visine q in the 6.13.10 RP. A note, today, I could only get one per transaction. When I tried to get 2, the wags q's did not multiply.
There is a similar deal on Listerine, but I did not do that deal as I didn't have any mq's with me.
Listerine regular prices, $5.49 and $5.79.
If you have any $2/1 Listerine q's, you'll get a little overage with the two $2/1 Wags' q's.
There is supposed to be a 15% Friends/Family discount coupon available from tomorrow through Wednesday on Facebook, so that will lower the oop a little for your purchases.

Working Walgreens
A lot of people have Walgreens issues with their stores accepting coupons, overage and all other sorts of things.
yes, I have problems too. Several stores that are convenient for me (near my grandparents' house) do not accept internet printables at all, so that stinks.
There are a few tips that will help you at Walgreens, and these are not wrong, fraudulent, or illegal. It just helps prevent beeps, and therefore drama.
These tips are mostly only valid at stores that have not converted to the new registers (as I have heard the new registers do not allow overage)
When purchasing an item that provides overage, always hand over the manufacturer coupons first, and the Wags coupons last. If your store insists on doing wags coupons first, try this: Hand over the items, then the mq's. (don't have the wags q in sight). After a second of hesitation, say, oh! i forgot about the in-ad/monthly coupon! And then flip through to find it. At that point, they usually won't void the transaction to re-ring it, although some stores may do it.
If your items involve overage on mq's alone, your last q will beep, so try doing this:
Let's say I want 10 bags of Purina One dog food at $1.99/ea and want to use ten coupons for $2.00/1. My last coupon will beep because I am now over the threshold of the total purchased vs. total amount of coupons presented.
So what I do is get 11 bags. I then (somewhere out of sight of the cashier) pull out ten coupons. I make sure to get something small to eat the overage. Then I hand over all my items. 11 bags of food and one filler. Cashier scans all items. I start counting out my coupons as I hand them over, commenting "let me count these to make sure I have the right ones". then I count... When I get to the last two, I make a "huh?" sound and pretend to look through my coupons as I hand over the last two, numbers nine and ten. Then I say, "You know what? I thought I had eleven coupons, but I only have ten. I must have put the other one in a different folder (used it already, etc) Let me take one of those off and just get the ten." The cashier will then void one item. No beeps, no drama. And I get to use ten coupons on ten items. Wags gets reimbursed full face value, so there is nothing wrong with outsmarting the register like this.
I did exactly the above three times this week while trying to use up all my dog food q's at stores other than my regular store ;) I didn't have any trouble, even at the difficult stores.

Free (at least very, very cheap) Pet Food
If you're like me, you're always looking for a good deal on pet food. We only feed our dogs dry food, so all those cans of mighty dog did me no good (donated them to a shelter here).
Well, found this deal:
Walgreens has the small bags of Purina One cat and dog food on sale for $1.99.
There was a $2/1 Purina Cat Food and a $2/1 Purina Dog Food in the 6.27.10 SS. Both are good on Any Size, Any package.
This was a regional coupon, which we did not get, but I found lots of 20 on Ebay for $1.25 with $.44 shipping. I bought 5 lots of 20, or 100 coupons, for a total of $6.69. I am having the SM at my Wags order 100 bags for me. This should keep my dogs fed for a couple of months at least. If they don't completely freak out over 100, I MIGHT ask them to order 200 and buy more coupons. :D
Because 100 bags of dog food for $5.59 + tax (a penny overage per bag = $1 off the total of 100) is pretty darn good!
I haven't bought any yet, but word is that for whatever reason, this coupon does not beep! (as they usually do, with even a penny over)

My deals today, Walgreens
So, as any of you Walgreens shoppers know, the socks reward wasn't printing this morning. It didn't mess me up today, since I was wanting to roll my $10rr's and not use the $3rr's right away, so the manager said I could come back on Wednesday (when she works next) so that I can get my rr's for the socks I bought. I did go ahead and get them b/c I wanted them for Christmas baskets- they are soooo soft. Plus I wanted a few pair for myself, and Natalya had laid claim to a pink-striped pair. :)
I am VERY lucky that my store is awesome and will push through beeping coupons, allowing overage. I love them.
Started with $82.50 in rr's
Walgreens
6 Kotex U 3/$10, earn free movie ticket code wyb 3
12 Airplus Socks $3.00, earn $3rr
7 Flexitop Blistop $5.00, earn $5rr
7 Blistex $2.99, earn $3rr
12 Newspapers $1.19
6 Oral-B TB $4.99
3 Cottonelle Fresh Wipes $1.99 w/in-adq
2 Cracker/cheese dippers $1.00
1 Can sliced peaches $.79
52 Dentyne gum (just realized she rang up an extra one, and shorted me a coupon, but I'm not worried about it. ;) )
1 Dawn Dish Detergent $.99
Total tax: $18.18
Total oop, cash spent: $26.32
Total rr's spent: $5
RR's leftover: $96.50 (including the $36 owed to me for my socks. :) )
Also earned 2 Free Movie tickets (from Kotex deal) and 2 "Free" Always pads catalinas
