Then Kroger. I am SO excited about my Kroger deals!!! I walked in and was browsing looking at some of the items I had on my list and I was coming up the aisle, I spotted some Energizer displays. These were stand-alone cardboard displays near the registers. The sign said "$2.25. Only $1.50 after coupon!" I though, ok, that's $.75. Tripled, those would be free. Surely not. SO I got closer. $.75 coupon tearpads all over the displays. Lots of them. I am thinking, no way. If those were really free, those would be gone! This is the last day of triples. So I inspected the coupon. Yes, it's a manuq. Yes, it begins with a "5". No, it doesn't say "do not double". So...free!! I got 8 packs and 8 coupons, then snagged another tearpad (there were lots of them, and about 15ish coupons per tearpad).
After I checked out, thirty minutes or so later, I rang my batteries, and paid at self-checkout. Out pops a $5 oyno cat!! Can you say moneymaker~? So I ran back over to the displays and they were ransacked! No more tearpads, and about half the batteries were gone!! Holy moly! I must have just had great timing and gotten there when they put them up. I was shocked. Luckily I had 16 more q's. I didn't know what the magic number was for the cat, so I went ahead and played it safe, and did two more transactions of 8 each.

Awesome.

  2. I found the tearpads as I was checking out. Since I already had 20 items I grabbed a about 10 coupons to go back the next day. I am so glad I did because there were no coupons and very few batteries left to buy (just enough, fortunately). What a great deal! I wish I had gotten more since my kids go through batteries.

  3. What MQ did you use for the Downy Ball? Thanks!

  4. Wonderful shopping!! Too bad Kroger in Atlanta never triples. They would probably nab away not a few of Publix's loyal customers! I found the Greenworks deal, too, and bought toilet cleaner. I can't remember where my Q came from, though. Do you remember?

  5. Mel- I know- VERY lcky!! It was a good shopping day for sure! :)

DrMom- It was an awesome deal! I wish I had gotten more coupons- we go through batteries like crazy (and rechargeables don't work that well for the kids' toys).

Carrie- I used the $1/1 mq from the $120 P&G book- it was $1 off any Downy

Margery- you're telling me! There weren't that many great deals this time, but the batteries were grat- and all luck! The Greenworks q came from the last Greenwise magazine- back page.

  6. I realized on Tues, that I never sent you my Kroger list! :o( Sorry I totally meant to! You did better than me though on the batteries....well I think I got more, but I heard the "magic" number was 12, so that's what I got- after getting 5 at a time at first to fit them in with all the other stuff I was getting! I didn't know until Monday that they were a mm with the $5 cat!! It was crazy trying to find them in stock by then, but I searched several other Kroger's enough to snag the $5 a few more times!

I ended up taking a couple of them and some .75 cats (which tripled til Tues) and rolled them all onto a gift card so that I didn't have to spend time thinking about what to blow them on before triples ended!!

Did you hear that Super Doubles is very likely happening at HT next week?? Which probably means Kroger too! Ahhhh! Excting, but I also kinda want a break! I haven't even been to Publix since the day after I saw you- and I have my Kraft gift card to burn there! Kroger has kept me crazy!!

  7. Stacey- no worries. :)I did hear about the super doubles. I need a break too!! That is sort of what prompted me to reevaluate my blog. I am excited, but I probably won't go crazy. I DO want to get a bunch of Wholly Guac with the $1.50/1 mq, because we LOVE that stuff!!

  8. How much does that Wholly Guac run?

  9. If memory serves- $2.99 or $3.99 (in that neighborhood). It's either going to be free or super-cheap with super-doubles. It's soooooo yummy! Last time I got some I put it on everything. mmmm
