Walgreens, Rite Aid, Target and Wal-Mart (yes, I went to Wal-Mart!)

Made the rounds yesterday. It was weird driving around and buying stuff, putting things into a small car (I'm driving a loaner while my van is in the shop). It really zips around, but I miss my van!

I made my usual Walgreens and Rite Aid Sunday run, but also hit up Target and Wal-Mart for a few deals. I'll be going back to Target for more Sobes! I love those things.

Wal-Mart
Wal-Mart was for Pampers wipes. I wasn't sure I'd find another deal on these, and hey, free is free. Of course the q's beep, and of course the cashier questioned it, but I convinced her they were ok to push through, so she did. *whew*. I think I have ten more of these coupons I haven't clipped yet, so I need to go dig those out before they expire on me.

Wal-Mart starts the Wii war

Wal-Mart is in it to win it this year.

Beginning December 5 and lasting through December 12, Wal-Mart will be offering the Wii for the regular $199 price, but you will also get a $50 gift card back when you buy one. Basically making the Wii $149.00. And that's the cheapest price I've EVER seen it!

Of course, this is "while supplies last", and we all know how those Wal-Mart sales are. Get there first in line and get one, beyond that? Well, let's really hope that Wal-Mart stocks up!!

But it's a super deal if you can get one!!!

Black Friday deals. How'd you do?

So how many of you went out and braved the stores today? Where'd you go? What'd ya get?

I made out pretty good. My Mom came up and watched the kids so I could go out shopping. I went to Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Toys-R-Us, Target, Walgreens, Lowes and Rite Aid. (In that order)

Wal-Mart
I hit Wally-world around 9am, and it was after the first herd ran through so I was pleasantly surprised to find the parking lot only about half full. I found all the toy items I was looking for and a few pair of pjs- none of the other clothes I wanted were in stock. Luckily, before I left my house this morning I remembered that I could lower my oop by buying the Adams collars for overage. :) As I was browsing, I had a list and found several things quickly, but couldn't find the two things I wanted for my son. I looked and looked. Finally I spotted one item sitting by its lonesome on the top of a huge stack of dolls (snagged it!) and after asking an employee about the other item and looking around, I found one in a return cart. So I got the last of each item! *whew*
~So here's what I got:
7 Adams collars $.97/ea
-$3/1 Adams product
1 Corelle dinnerware set $18
4 pj sets $3/ea
2 DVDs $2/ea
1 Playskool Choo Choo Train $9
1 Fisher Price wonderball thingee $9
1 Dress-up trunk $19
1 Pyrex 2qt pan $2
1 Pyrex pie pan $2
Total pre-coupon: 99.42
Total oop: $78.42

KMart:
KMart was dead too. Ok, well, it was way busier than KMart EVER is! But still dead. The toy items I was looking for were gone, but I did get the clothes I wanted.

2 pair pants for my daughter 3/$10
1 long-sleeved shirt for my daughter 3/$10
3 Wonderkids clothing items for my son 3/$10
1 pajama set for my son $5.49
1 Christmas dress for my daughter $7.79
4 Long-sleeved t's for me $3.99/ea {Which I hate the fit and am returning}
1 Winter coat for my daughter $24.99
Total oop: $81.28
{-$17.60 for the return}
Grand total (after return): $63.68

Toys-R-Us
Wow. Toys-R-Us was a MADHOUSE and I got there around 11am. I can't imagine what it must have been like at midnight when they opened. I guess that's why some woman at my TRU got TRAMPLED!!! (go HERE for story) I found two items out of five. I wanted to get my mitts on one of the Little Einstein rockets for $9.99 that was normally over $45. Unfortunately that was not meant to be.

1 Doctor kit $5.99
1 Clipo Explorestation $14.99
Total oop: $22.97

Target
I mostly went to see if they had the Little Einsteins item to price match (didn't know if they had it or would pm it, but it couldn't hurt to try). They didn't have it and really didn't have any "have to have it" deals. So I bought paper I needed and was on my way.

1 ream 750-sheets paper $5.59
Total oop: $6.01
-Used $5 gc
Total cash paid: $1.01

Walgreens
After all this money flying out of my wallet (which, my very stingy wallet was VERY un-used to! LOL!!) I had to see some SUPER deals so I went to my beloved Walgreens. :) I had already shopped yesterday for all the BF deals and a bunch of toys. Yesterday I spent about $24 (all tax) which means I saved approximately $240, plus the savings on the sales price.

Today I got
2 Dove deos $3.99 <--Earn $4rr wyb 1
-$1/1 mq (when I bought Dove, it printed another $1/1 mq!)
2 Nivea shave gels #2.49 <-- Earn $2.50rr wyb 1

10 Red Baron pizzas $1.99/ea
-$1/1 mqx6
Total oop: $9 (tax basically)
-I have left $21 rr's - been rolling around a bunch and spending them on Christmas gifts, Fluctuated between $91 and $21 over the last week. :)

Lowes
Went for a shelving unit. To store all my grocery overage in my garage. LOL We also needed an air filter for our house.
Here's a tip for you Lowes shoppers. Any time you plan on shopping at Lowes, run by the post office. Pick up a "moving " envelope. You know, it's the envelope you get to change your address. Inside the envelope, there are coupons. There is ALWAYS a 10% off your total purchase coupon for Lowes in there.

1 Shelving unit $44.98
2 Storage bins 2/$5.98
1 House Air Filter $8.87
-10% off total purchase q
Total oop $58.95

Rite Aid
Alright. I've been trying to track down the MP3 players that are $29.99 with a $10scr. These are regularly priced at $50. Unfortunately my regular store HAD 8 to 10 of these a few weeks ago ...until they got shoplifted. The manager was telling me he has been ordering them for weeks and has been unable to get them in. RATS!! This is a SUPER deal!! You pay $29.99, use a $5/25 coupon, and get $10 scr back. Making this $15. !! *sigh*
I also want to mention that I was playing by the rules regarding the razor purchase. Some of the razors were labeled "1 per customer" I shopped RA yesterday and only got one of each type. I did the same at the first store today. (Some weren't labeled, so I got a couple of those). But when I got to the second store, here was a woman shelf-clearing the razors. She bought all the disposables and all the women's intuitions (she didn't see an endcap of sale items, so I was able to get three). I watched her check out and the cashier didn't care that she got them all. So I figured what the heck, I'll take the men's ones that are left. Sinking to her level? Perhaps, but I did need them for my gift baskets!

First store (not my regular store, looking to see if they had the MP3s- they didn't)
2 Schick Intuition razors $1.99/ea
-$2/1 mq
2 Schick Men's Titanium razors $1.99/ea
-$2/1 mq
1 Schick disposables $.99
-$1/1 mq
1 Rite Aid Nail Polish Remover $2.20

1 20oz Mt Dew $1.49
1 Secret deo $2.49

Wal-Mart freebie

I was actually in Wal-Mart today *gasp* :) And was browsing some of the prices of frozen items and noticed that the Healthy Choice frozen meals are on rollback for $1.78. With the $2/1 Printable HERE, that makes them free +.

Good luck!

Wal-Mart shopping

Ok, I know. Not all of you are blessed to have a Publix nearby and must resort to Wal-Mart for your groceries. My condolences. Wal-Mart and other large chain stores *cough* Target *cough* are notoriously BAD for couponers. These stores have zero coupon training and if a coupon beeps for any reason they will start in on the pull-random-excuse-why-I-can't-take-your-coupon drama.

If you're limited to Wal-Mart, I have put together some good deals for you. A few tips for having a good Wal-Mart shopping experience.

1) Test the waters. When you have some time, put together a small list with a few different types of coupons to see what will happen. Get one that gives you overage, one that you are using on a trial-sized item that doesn't exclude trial sized items, one ip that will give you a free item, etc. Wait to see what happens. Go in with a smile on your face and expect to have answers. Be prepared to explain your coupons. KNOW YOUR STUFF! Because they won't.

2) Time to practice a little thing I like to call "Cashier profiling". Yes. I do it. Yes it works (mostly). Older women are a no-go. They like to scrutinize coupons. Young males are the best. They aren't careful, so make sure they scan them all, but generally, they'll push anything through. If there are no young males, go for a young female, but look for one who is smiling. Cashiers that are in a bad mood like to pawn that off on you. If you find a line with a young male, and you expect trouble, buy tampons. Or pads. It usually flusters them and they will just push it through so they don't have to ask any questions. LOL.

Overage at...Wal-Mart!

Mel over at The Great Coupon Experiment alerted me to a great moneymaker at Wal-Mart with the Adams Flea collars. These are $.97 regular price, and there are coupons for $3 off ANY Adams product. These were in the July All You, 5/17 and 6/28 Red Plum inserts. Between those three sources, I found 21 coupons in my possession. Little did I know I was holding $42 and change in my hands.

You see, Wal-Mart never wants to give overage- they'll adjust the darn coupons for a PENNY! So today, when my husband started whining that he wanted some beer, and we are 45 minutes away from a Publix, I started thinking what I have and what's on sale at Kroger and Wal-Mart that I might be able to reduce my cost. I had already used all my good Kroger coupons with the mega sale, so I was thinking about Wal-Mart and thought I'd give these q's a go. I ALWAYS have trouble at Wal-Mart. With The Family is Its Own Reward booklets, the coupon barcodes started with 9 and I had problems with them taking those. I had to tell the cashier every time, and they still had to read the q's carefully and inspect them.
At any rate, I went in, leaving hub and kids in the car and went to get the collars- picked up three, thinking that would give me $6.09 overage. As I walked along the front of the store, I checked out the cashiers, trying to assess and decide which one looked the most coupon-friendly. Out of the twenty or so cashiers working, ONE was a young male. The rest were older women. I knew which line I was getting in.
I grabbed a few packs of Kotex pads $1, to use my $1/1 q's on, and then went for the beer. I got a 6-pack of Killians for $5.97, and needed another $.12 of something to fill the rest of the overage. Kool-Aid it is. So a pack of Kool-Aid for $.20 got added to the total.

I got in line, and was behind two ladies with a full cart. The cashier in front of him waved her arms and said, you can come up here. "No thanks, I'm good". (Stick with the young male). So I waited, then when it was my turn, he scanned the beer, asked for my ID, scanned the kotex and collars, and kool-aid. Your total is $12.xx. I handed him my q's. He scanned a $3/1 Any Adams Flea and Tick product. Beep. "Please verify coupon amount" the cash register informs him. He looks at the coupon, then right back at the register and hits a button. No problem. Then he does the same for the next two, and scans my Kotex q's.

No problem.

If only it was always that simple.

A few stores in a few days...

Natalya was in gymnastics camp two days this week so it made it easier to go shopping- therefore, I hit a few stores in the last few days, Wal-Mart, KMart, Kroger and Food Lion. So here's what I got...

Kroger
Kroger has an INCREDIBLE deal on Amp energy drinks, and since Doug can go through these like water...I had to take advantage- I am sure I'll be getting more too! Buy 10 for $.99 each and then a coupon prints for a free $10 Kroger gift card. Here in TN, I paid $1.32 (less than tax each) for ten!

and I have a $10 gift card still: profit $.84

More Free things

Hit up Wal-Mart for a few free deals. I do not shop at Wal-Mart anymore now that I have discovered the Publix love, but occasionally there are free things, and I don't pass up free. Plus it seems like there is a Wal-Mart in every city, and that can't be said for most other grocery stores.

Kotex Pads: Small packs of Kotex pads are $1. Use the $1/1 coupon from the 6/21 paper, or HERE (firefox) or HERE (Explorer) for free pads.

Popsicles: 10pack boxes of Popsicles are $1. Use the $1/1 coupons from the Family is its own Reward booklet (found at Publix) for free popsicles.

Publix: 6/30/09

Final day of June, and coupons expiring! Which means a trip to Publix was required. Darn it. ;)

Unfortunately none of my favorite cashiers were working, so I got in a line with a new cashier. I mean, shiny new. As in- didn't know how to enter a competitor's q new. He was fine except he wasn't very careful and some of my q's must have stuck together b/c all of them didn't come off the final total. I didn't feel like dealing with it because my 7 month old was screaming his head off, so I will hang onto the receipts and take them with me next trip- if the good manager is there, I'll ask her if they can adjust it- it should be an additional $5 in my favor. Still good deals though!
